Coming Soon: American Horror Story
Oct 3rd
When Does It Start: Wednesday 5th October at 10pm EST on FX
In A Nutshell: Haunted houses get the TV treatment… is this the new True Blood / Walking Dead?
What’s It About: Meet the Harmon family – whose lives are about to get a whole lot weirder!
Dad Ben (Dylan McDermott) is a psychiatrist who’s recently been caught cheating on his wife Vivien (Connie Britton). Together the two have a teenage daughter called Violet, and decide to move from Boston to Los Angeles to patch up their fractured relationship. But their new home is anything but a peaceful retreat… it’s full of secrets and horrors – many of a sexual nature. Get ready for lots of dead babies, sex, jolts and psychotic behavior… courtesy of Glee and Nip/Tuck boss, Ryan Murphy.
First Look: American Horror Story
Aug 19th
Here’s another show I’ve VERY excited about for the Fall – and which I think has the makings of a huge hit for FX.
Check out the just released teaser for American Horror Story, the new series that aims to do for haunted houses what The Walking Dead did for zombies and True Blood did for vampires.
Horror Story stars Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton as Ben and Vivian, a couple who move into a new house with their kids, after Ben commits adultery. But the house seems to know exactly what’s on the family’s minds and feeds on their fears…
Also along for the ride is Jessica Lange – who clearly realizes after Grey Gardens that all the best roles for women are on TV these days. Plus look out for Francis Conroy from Six Feet Under as the couple’s housekeeper and Denis O’Hare aka King Russell from True Blood.
As you probably know, American Horror Story is Executive Produced by Ryan Murphy of Glee infamy. Let’s just hope this show’s a little more consistent and less erratic than the fast fading Fox hit.
Have to say though – this trailer does look terrific – and as a big horror fan, I’m certainly excited for the series’ potential…

The View: The Glee Versus Kings Of Leon Feud
Jan 27th
It’s one of the silliest arguments of the moment – but still it rumbles on…
By now you’ve probably heard about the argument between Glee creator Ryan Murphy and rock band Kings Of Leon.
To summarize – Ryan was pissed that Leon wouldn’t allow their music to be featured on his show and called them ‘self centered assholes’ in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Then the Kings of Leon drummer, Nathan Followill, Tweeted that the openly gay Murphy should ‘see a therapist, get a manicure and buy a bra’… to which Murphy responded by accusing the band of homophobia… Nathan apologized…. and the debate rumbles on…
At which point, in step the ladies of The View for their take. Which as usual involves Whoopi kind of excusing the band’s behavior (it’s Mel Gibson all over again!)
Here’s my take – I’ve taken a few potshots at Murphy in the past and think he could and should have been more tactful in his initial interview. I also did find the Kings of Leon statement kind of offensive, but more in an ignorant than a malicious way…
But overall I do agree with Murphy’s instinct regarding the band. Stop taking yourselves so seriously guys. Glee has a lot More >
