UNITED STATE OF POP 2010: DON’T STOP THE POP
Dec 29th
Yep, I know the headline above is kind of gibberish!
It’s that time of the year again where famed mixer DJ Earworm provides us with a musical and visual montage of the year in music. So check out a mash up of Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Usher, Enrique Iglesias and many more…
We don’t normally cover music here at Remote Patrolled, but since these videos have been playing in heavy rotation on your screens for the last few months we figured it made sense. Though I’ll be perfectly happy never to see those Katy Perry videos again.
Personally I don’t think this mix is a patch on last year’s effort (see below) which flowed brilliantly… but what do you think? A good mix – or a bit of a mess? And what are your favorite – and least favorite – singles of the year?
AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS: BEST (AND WORST) IN SHOW
Nov 22nd
I’m afraid I didn’t watch too much of last night’s American Music Awards – they’ve always seemed a rather meaningless awards show to me (like the Golden Globes are to the Oscars). But I always make a habit of skimming through the performances to say who delivered – and who fell really flat.
As usual last night was a very mixed bag and demonstrated that even though the likes of American Idol and the X Factor come in for a lot of criticism, compared to many of today’s ‘stars’ – at least their contestants can sing.
Best of the bunch for me was Pink, who proved herself once again with strong vocals and a performance filled with energy and fun. Of course it helps that new single ‘Raise Your Glass‘ is an anthemic singalong – and the perfect holiday tune. This performance wasn’t in the league of Pink’s iconic Glitter In The Air aerial gymnastics – but even so, Pink delivered…
KATY’S PERRY’S MUPPET SEX!
Oct 15th
Wow – look what’s going down on Sesame Street!
Hot on the heels of Katy Perry‘s now ‘infamous‘ (and banned) Sesame Street appearance the guys over at College Humor have come up with this spoof video, depicting Perry getting a little too close to her Muppet co-stars!
The gag is funny and the video neatly parodies the Teenage Dream lyrics, although I think the joke does go on a tad long. Stay tuned to the end though for the final punchline!
Personally I thought the whole Sesame Street furor over Katy was very silly in the first place (as did our sister site Good Enough Mother – check out Rene’s thoughts here) – there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with her appearance… but the Street bowed to conservative parent pressure – shame on them! So good on the College guys for striking back…
Enjoy the video… and remember 1+1=2!
KATY PERRY VISITS SESAME STREET
Sep 21st
Here’s a clip that’s making the viral rounds at the moment as pop star of the moment Katy Perry drops by Sesame Street to play with Elmo…
It’s actually quite a sweet scene, and good on Katy for getting into the spirit of the show. Check out her slightly reworked version of Hot and Cold (still my favorite Katy Perry song!)
And at the end of the day – at least it gives dads everywhere ANOTHER reason to watch Sesame Street with their kids… let’s just hope some of the young boys and girls out there don’t take a peek at Katy’s album cover, slightly risque California Gurls video or start asking kissing girls – and liking it…
DON’T F*** WITH THE GAGA
Jun 20th
Here’s a fun viral video doing the rounds today, playing on the recent spat between Lady Gaga and Katy Perry…
As Christina Aguilera has recently learned to her cost – you don’t F with the Gaga! It’s funny cause it’s kind of true…
I think the actress playing Gaga is actually pretty good – ditto the ‘fake’ Russell Brand (but please don’t say ‘Get Him To The Greek’ is a smash. It isn’t.)
I’d love to have seen Gaga take on a third target though… perhaps MIA or Grace Jones – who both recently took shots at the Bad Romance queen…
Anyway – here’s the clip – enjoy!
THE SMURFS HIT THE BIG SCREEN
Jun 17th
Check out the brand new teaser trailer for the movie adaptation of the cult kid favorite The Smurfs…
Yesterday photos of the Smurfs hit the internet – but now we have the actual trailer, introduced by Neil Patrick Harris who appears in the movie, alongside Katy Perry, Alan Cumming and Kevin James who’ll be voicing various Smurf characters.
The Smurfs originally started life as a comic strip back in 1958, before becoming a Hanna Barbera cartoon in the 1980′s – but the franchise has been pretty dormant for a while now…
The trailer doesn’t exactly give much away – except that the filmmakers are going down the Alvin and the Chipmunks CGI road…
