In Production: Game Of Thrones – Season 2
Nov 21st
If you, like me, are hungry for more Game Of Thrones, take a look at this just released behind the scenes look at the upcoming second season…
I can’t really call this video clip a First Look or a proper teaser as it doesn’t reveal a whole lot – but it’s at least a vague taste of what’s to come.
Game Of Thrones was a show that really surprised me first time around. I’m normally not a fan of grungy, fantasy series but Thrones was so fascinating and complex and featured such terrific characters it was hard not to get sucked into the world. For me the series got better every single week – and it seems I wasn’t the only one who felt that way, with viewing figures climbing pretty much every week, ending on a high of 3.04 million.
My instinct is that Game Of Thrones will really explode in Season 2, in the same way that True Blood truly took off after its first season. The big challenge will be maintaining the show’s quality – and bringing the series’ more fantastical elements to life – remember Daenerys and her recently hatched dragons!
The second season of Thrones will launch on HBO in More >

Richard Recommends: Game Of Thrones
May 22nd
It’s Richard Recommends time again – my chance to wax lyrical on a current show that gets my seal of approval.
This time around I’m talking about Game Of Thrones, HBO’s epic fantasy drama that’s been racking up some great ratings recently as well as plenty of critical acclaim
If you’ve not been following the show so far it’s hard for me to bring you up to speed – this is one pretty plot dense show (more on that in a moment). But in a nutshell the lead protagonist is Ned Stark (Sean Bean) who’s been enlisted to be the ‘hand’ of the king, Robert (played with menace by the once jovial Mark Addy) following the death of the previous hand.
Turns out the king’s wife Cersei (Lena Headey) was behind the murder and is in fact scheming against the king. Cersei’s sleeping with her brother Jaime and also has a second brother, Tyrion, a dwarf (Peter Dinklage, having maximum fun with the role) who seems to be the only honorable member of the family. Cersei and Jaime have also tried to murder Ned’s son, Bran, after he spied them making love, and now Ned’s wife Catelyn has taken Tyrion prisoner.

Game Of Thrones: The Latest Trailer…
Jan 17th
HBO clearly have high hopes for their medieval epic, Game Of Thrones, coming April 17th to the pay per view broadcaster…
Check out the latest trailer for the series starring Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy and Alfie Allen (aka Lily’s brother). The last show to receive this much pre-release hoopla was AMC’s The Walking Dead – and we all know how that turned out!
I must admit I’ve been lukewarm about Game Of Thrones up to now – but this new trailer is glossy, stylish and actually quite interesting. I’m still not sure if the show is quite my thing – but I’ll certainly give it a go…
Check out the Sneak Peek below… what do you think? Are you excited yet?

NEW TRAILER: GAME OF THRONES
Nov 29th
Here’s the just released latest sneak peek for one of the most eagerly anticipated new shows of 2011 – Game of Thrones, the medieval epic that’ll be hitting HBO screens in Spring 2011.
We’ve featured a few clips from Thrones before, but just to remind you, the series is based on a series of bestselling books by George R.R. Martin and stars Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Mark Addy (The Full Monty) and Peter Dinklage (Death At A Funeral).
Personally I’m still not massively feeling the show – but I do think it will be a big hit for HBO. Following the huge success of The Walking Dead it seems to me that shows that are a little out of the box – and have a cinematic feel – are destined for big success. I think Thrones may be a bit too male skewing for Dead like numbers but who knows… lots of women out there seem to love Spartacus…
But what do you think? Are you liking the look of Game of Thrones… and how do you think it’ll fare?
FIRST LOOK: GAME OF THRONES
Sep 14th
First it was vampires, then zombies, and now fantasy is about to get the big budget TV treatment…
Here’s the first look at Game Of Thrones, the new HBO series based on the bestselling series of fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin. The series is set to debut in Spring 2011 and HBO are jokingly referring to the show as ‘The Sopranos in Middle Earth’ which gives you an idea of the dark tones and story-lines they’re aiming for. Plus they’re playing down the fantasy angle. Probably a smart move.
Filming has only just begun so this is strictly teaser trailer material – and the behind the scenes feature (below) doesn’t add a huge amount either… but given that the show is airing on HBO, rather than say Syfy, I’m immediately intrigued.
That said I’m not much of a fantasy fan myself (I must be one of the few people who didn’t love the Lord of the Rings movies) and fantasy series have had a mixed reception on TV over the years. Also was it really necessary to cast Sean Bean in a fantasy series again?
Anyway I’m going to go in with an open mind – and will keep posting updates and new clips as More >
