Cool Clip: Michelle Rodriguez’s Killer Pillow Fight
Mar 26th
It’s rather amazing how well Michelle Rodriguez‘s career has gone!
For an actress known for one particular type of role – the butt kicking tomboy – she’s shown amazing resilience and ended up in a whole stream of hits over the years, including The Fast And The Furious, Resident Evil, Avatar and this year’s Battle: LA. Someone either makes some great choices or has a great agent – or both!
I interviewed Michelle right at the top of her career, for the female boxing movie Girlfight and she was lovely and very new to the scene (I believe it was her first time in London so she was seeking tips on where to go). Somehow I suspect she’s a lot more worldly wise now!
Here’s Michelle in action in one of the best viral clips of the year so far, a college pillow fight that suddenly gets a whole lot more serious when blood is drawn. It’s very Kill Bill – and fast and furious. Those College Humor guys really are spending money these days!

The Flintstones Theme – Extended!
Mar 25th
We haven’t posted a clip from the College Humor guys for a while now – but this one caught my eye today and is worth a watch!
Check out the gang’s reworking of the classic Flintstones‘ theme tune – with a darker 21st century twist…
Yep, if you’ve ever wondered how Fred could keep wolfing down those huge ribs all the time, here’s your answer…
Enjoy! (more…)
COOL CLIP: A STAR WARS STATE OF MIND
Jan 3rd
Wow – College Humor are really starting to spend some money on their parody clips these days…
Check out the gang’s version of Star Wars – re-imagined to the tune of the Jay Z / Alicia Keys hit ‘Empire State Of Mind’ and featuring a rapping Darth Vader and vocals from Princess Leia.
I’m personally not a huge Star Wars fan and think the clip is about a year too late – but it certainly boasts good production values. I doubt that all those Star Wars clips have been cleared though – so I wonder what Mr Lucas will have to say about that…
Here’s the clip below… enjoy!
COOL CLIP: A VERY KE$HA CHRISTMAS
Dec 24th
We do like to poke fun of Ke$ha here at Remote Patrolled – but really she’s the gift that keeps on giving!
For me Ke$ha says a lot about the state of music today. She has dubious vocals (as most of her live performances prove), doesn’t really stand for anything and doesn’t seem to care much about being an artist – it’s all about the partying! How appropriate for these reality TV times.
That said I’m a sucker for a good pop song and I think Ke$ha has turned out some corkers – from Tik Tok to Your Love Is My Drug to We R Who We R – they’re all on my ipod (along with many other shameful songs!)
And it seems I’m not the only one who loves to engage in a little Ke$ha bashing… check out this great clip from the College Humor gang which imagines what a Ke$ha Christmas song would sound like (it’s actually the latest in a series of pop parodies they’ve run on the star)
For me the clip is clever, funny and has some great one liners – I especially liked, ‘right up the chimney all the snow goes!’

COOL CLIP: A VERY ZOMBIE HOLIDAY…
Dec 23rd
For those of you missing both The Walking Dead AND Mad Men – check out this just released video spoof from the guys at Team Unicorn…
It’s a simple premise – a holiday guide for defending your home from zombies, shot in the style of a 1950′s PSA (I shot one myself a few years back for a hellish pilot I worked on!)
To be honest I think the clip goes on too long and could do with a faster pace – but it looks great and there’s some nice moments along the way. Plus it’s good to feature a video that doesn’t always come from the Funny Or Die / College Humor teams who have started confusing celebrity guest spots with actual comedy…
2011 looks to be another big year for zombies with a super-sized season 2 of The Walking Dead at Halloween and the movie version of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies – reportedly starring either Natalie Portman or Anne Hathaway as Elizabeth Bennett… so it looks like zombies really are the new vampires…
Here’s the Zombie Holiday clip… enjoy!
CELEBRITY HALLOWEEN – TRICK OR TREATING WITH THE STARS
Oct 25th
We’re still in the Halloween spirit here on Remote Patrolled – and here’s a fun video that’s just been posted up by the guys at College Humor...
The premise is simple – what would happen if you knocked on the doors of some of 2010′s biggest news-makers?
Some of the gags are very obvious – The Situation and Jay Leno for example – and the skit features a truly terrible Mel Gibson impersonation – but I smiled a few times and it’s slickly executed….
But what do you think? Did you laugh? And who else should have been in there? Enjoy…
KATY’S PERRY’S MUPPET SEX!
Oct 15th
Wow – look what’s going down on Sesame Street!
Hot on the heels of Katy Perry‘s now ‘infamous’ (and banned) Sesame Street appearance the guys over at College Humor have come up with this spoof video, depicting Perry getting a little too close to her Muppet co-stars!
The gag is funny and the video neatly parodies the Teenage Dream lyrics, although I think the joke does go on a tad long. Stay tuned to the end though for the final punchline!
Personally I thought the whole Sesame Street furor over Katy was very silly in the first place (as did our sister site Good Enough Mother – check out Rene’s thoughts here) – there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with her appearance… but the Street bowed to conservative parent pressure – shame on them! So good on the College guys for striking back…
Enjoy the video… and remember 1+1=2!
COOL CLIP: NICOLAS CAGE’S AGENT
Oct 7th
Here’s a quick little video to put a smile on your faces today!
It’s from the guys over at College Humor and imagines the conversations between actor Nicolas Cage and his agent…
As we all know Nic started off as quite the offbeat star in the 1980′s in movies like Wild At Heart, Peggy Sue Got Married, Raising Arizona and Monnstruck. This was a guy who ate a live cockroach for Vampire’s Kiss. Take that Johnny Depp!
But then Nicolas changed tack in the early 90′s, appearing in action movie schlock like The Rock and Con Air. They became huge successes, along with the National Treasure franchise (of which I’m a fan). But then Cage’s quality control began to drop drastically – and nowadays he literally will appear in anything… remember The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Next, Knowing, The Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous and Ghost Rider (for which a sequel is actually planned!)
Well check out what Nic’s agent is telling him… it’s pretty on the money! Enjoy…
COOL CLIP: NO ONE LIKES M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN
Sep 7th
Oh this is good!
Hot on the heels of the recent MTV movie spoof, Escalation, here’s the guys at College Humor with a glossier and even more surreal take-down of the dubious director…
Now I’ll be the first to admit that Night is a very easy target these days – it’s not hard to spoof the (reportedly) egocentric director after big screen blowouts like Lady In The Water, The Last Airbender and The Happening… but there’s some fun ideas in here – and I really liked that the whole spoof is filmed in the style of an M. Night Shyamalan film…
And I especially liked The Rotten Tomatoes gag with ‘Shyamalan’s’ typically over-boiled reaction!
Check it out and share your thoughts… clever or cliched? What do you think?
DON DRAPER’S COLLEGE ORIENTATION
Aug 23rd
The guys at College Humor strike again…
Check out this really cool Mad Men parody that imagines Don Draper as a college student – complete with drinking, smoking and his trademark bleak perspective on the world…
It’s a cool idea and well executed though it does take a little while to get going. I have a feeling this video is going to go viral pretty fast – and that Jon Hamm himself would probably get a kick from it too…
BTW if you’re a Mad Men fan be sure to head over to The Atlantic every Monday morning for my recap of the previous night’s episode (I’m just loving the current season – the show truly is at its peak)
Anyway here’s Don Draper Jr in action… enjoy!
