THE WALKING DEAD: SERIES PREVIEW
Oct 31st
The wait is almost over!
Premiering tonight on AMC, The Walking Dead is undoubtedly the most eagerly anticipated show of the season with great buzz and reviews and the perfect holiday launch date (well played AMC!) Could this be the show to lift TV out of it’s Fall slump… we’ll see!
I’ve posted a few clips and trailers for the series here on Remote Patrolled and here’s one last look before the show officially kicks off. Just released today this preview gives a tantalizing look at more scenes to come across the series – it’s all very Dawn of the Dead…
I have high hopes for The Walking Dead and have a feeling this could become AMC’s biggest show to date… we’ll give you the ratings as soon as they come in… but in the meantime, enjoy!
And Happy Halloween everyone!
COOL CLIP: PEOPLE ARE AWESOME
Oct 31st
Here’s a great viral clip doing the rounds over the last few days…
It’s called People Are Awesome and features people across the world pulling off some AMAZING tricks and stunts.
I’m most freaked out by the high dive guy at the 2.25 mark – that sequence totally spooks me as I hate heights! But to be honest the whole video is pretty terrifying as I find myself constantly thinking ‘what if they fell / hit their head / slipped!’ Except for the golfers that is!
You may have seen some of these clips before – but put together it’s a pretty amazing compilation. Shame about the frat boy rock soundtrack though!
Check out the clip – and be warned – it’s pretty hair raising in places…
HALLOWEEN SPECIAL: WHO WORE WHAT!
Oct 29th
It’s Halloween time again – which means every TV show seems to be going costume crazy at the moment! After an avalanche of fancy dressed ABC comedies on Wednesday night – and with Housewives and The Walking Dead coming this Sunday… what did today’s talk show casts come as… the answer – some pretty lame looks!

TV OBESITY: THE MARIE CLAIRE SAGA
Oct 28th
So as you’ve probably heard, Marie Claire has landed itself in a whole heap of trouble this week after one of its bloggers, Maura Kelly, posted a controversial article online complaining about obese people on TV getting intimate with one another.
The piece was sensitively titled ‘Should ‘Fatties’ Get A Room (Even On TV)’ and Kelly was referring to the CBS show Mike and Molly which focuses on an overweight couple who meet at Overeaters Anonymous, and start a relationship. I actually haven’t caught the show yet – though I’ve heard it’s heavy on the ‘fat jokes’ front – but Kelly’s piece has caused a whole heap of criticism, including a bit of a rant form Sharon Osbourne on The Talk yesterday…
JOY BEHAR / SHARRON ANGLE – THE FEUD CONTINUES!
Oct 27th
Remember the now-famous clip we posted yesterday of Joy Behar angrily berating Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle over her ‘racist’ attack ads… well the argument is still going on!
Following yesterday’s show, Angle sent Joy a large bouquet of flowers which was proudly displayed on today’s show – with a sarcastic letter detailing how Joy’s comments had helped Sharron raise over $150,000.
Well Joy certainly isn’t backing down – and again fought back with some equally spicy language and comments. I’m actually surprised you can say the B word on daytime TV – but Behar has certainly proven you can this week.
Personally I love Joy’s fury – and do wish Elisabeth would actually contribute to the discussion instead of just jabbering on – but what do you think?
Is Behar out of bounds – or are her comments fair and legitimate? And is The View really the right venue for this kind of discussion… start weighing in!
LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON: JOAN RIVERS
Oct 27th
Here’s an old favorite here on Remote Patrolled – the glorious Joan Rivers!
I’ve been a fan of Joan for years and am thrilled she’d made such a big comeback over the last couple of years with Celebrity Apprentice, her documentary film A Piece Of Work, Fashion Police on E!, How’d You Get So Rich and her upcoming We reality show…
And it seems there’s a lot of fans out there too – when we posted Joan’s appearance on Larry King Live a few months ago it became one of our biggest postings – still bringing in visitors every day!
Well Joan was back on our screens last night – guesting on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and as filthy as ever… as usual not every gag worked (the Angelina / Brad jokes felt forced and fell flat) – but I loved her potshots at Betty White, the Rosa Parks twitter gag and usual scathing tone… she’s still got it!

GLEE: THE CURSE OF CABLEVISION!
Oct 27th
Normally at this time of the week I’d be putting together my Quick Take on last night’s Glee – in this case the much touted Rocky Horror Show special…
Unfortunately I live in the New York area and the numbskulls at my cable provider Cablevision are still locked in a dispute with Fox – meaning we’re not getting the network at the moment (oh how will I live without such winners as The Good Guys and Running Wilde?)
Thank goodness this dispute isn’t happening in January in the heart of American Idol season…! Then I’d REALLY be pissed!
Anyway it sadly means I haven’t been able to watch Glee yet – I’ll have to catch up via the Fox website tonight – so no Quick Take this week! We’ll be back to normal service next time though – either I’ll catch the show at a friend’s – or we’ll have canceled Cablevision…
At the moment we’re erring towards the latter since this is only the latest in a series of disputes that have disrupted customer service (I remember missing a chunk of the Academy Awards earlier in the year for the same reason!) How ironic that Cablevision comes calling literally EVERY week asking us to More >
THE VIEW: JOY BEHAR ATTACKS SHARRON ANGLE!
Oct 26th
Wow, what’s happening to The View these days? These girls are pissed…!
Hot on the heels of the recent Bill O’Reilly walkout the ladies discussed politics again today – and specifically Nevada Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle who recently put out a ‘racially charged‘ attack ad against her opponent Harry Reid.
Well Joy sure wasn’t happy with the advert and went pretty far for a daytime TV host – labeling Angle a ‘moron’, ‘evil’ and saying she’s ‘going to hell’… ouch!
Surprisingly even Elisabeth and Sherri seemed fired up too – and not at each other! Only Barbara seemed relatively calm today…
One things for sure – it’s a darn sight more interesting that the ladies of The Talk discussing their famous friends!
But will all the commotion calm down after the mid-term elections? And what will the repercussions of this clip be… we’ll see…

THE EVENT: BEYOND BELIEF
Oct 26th
How Willing Are You To Accept A Show’s Implausibilities?
As regular Remote Patrolled readers will know I’m a fan of NBC’s new alien conspiracy, The Event (check out my Richard Recommends for more). The show chugs along at a stirring pace with likable characters, strong cliffhangers and an intriguing series arc (what is The Event? Who are the detainees of Mount Inostranka? And why does Blair Underwood never age?)
But even though I’m enjoying the show a lot – I suspect like many people out there, I’m having a hard time with some of the show’s more implausible storylines. The Event doesn’t just stretch credibility – it pushes it to absolute breaking point week after week!
So far we’ve watched as computer programmer Sean Walker broke into the FBI headquarters and hacked their top-secret databases in mere seconds – with no police training at all! Then secret alien CIA agent Simon Lee is able to nip out of the White House in the middle of a national security crisis for a secret rendezvous with the lead terrorist Thomas. Thomas is also able to slip a cell phone into the school bag of the President’s son David. And a disappearing airplane over Miami is able to kept More >
